Cross ventilation in the design has been a vital factor, as the need for artificial lighting and ventilation has been drastically reduced, especially during working hours. This approach has also made sure that the design is in line with the company’s philosophy, who themselves believe in creating sustainable products.
It is surrounded by the testing areas, production lines, stores and conference halls. A smaller courtyard is also present, which complements the larger one and provides for some much needed spill-out areas. The detached placement of dining/toilet areas from the main block also ensures adequate recess among employees.
Auroville, the city-in-the-making is located on the Coromandel Coast in south India. At once a barren land is a forest land today. Enormous effort is gone in making this transformation. It was in December 2011 that Auroville observed the fury of nature when a big cyclone swept its forest and uprooted many trees and to some extent destroyed some of its forest. Of course nature has its own way to communicate and let us all look back and reflect what collectively we as human being have been doing to mother earth.
